Why?
As young professionals working in DC, we all understand that it is very difficult to succeed, especially in this town, without encouragement, support, and people who believe in you. However, unfortunately the level of support, encouragement, and personalized attention that we have all been fortunate to receive from family, loved ones, and colleagues is not always in abundance for others. We wanted share the same encouragement, mentoring, and support that we have each received in our lives to help strengthen the courage for others to pursue dreams, independence, and self-confidence. Because we all have something incredible to offer in this world!
How?
We correspond via letters every month each on a different topic such as getting to know you, goal setting, role models, and favorite traditions. At the end of the month we gather together and talk over video chats to recap what we each wrote about and ask each other questions about lives in the US and in Haiti.
We're learning just as much about ourselves through these activities as we are about each other!
The Group
The six of us are all connected in DC through either college, work, and mutual friends. We all have a passion for helping empowering girls around the country and world!
Our pen-pals all call Espwa their home, and have expressed to us their ambitions to be lawyers, doctors, and nurses; all have set goals to work hard in school; and are committed to giving back to their communities.
